It looks like the staycation is coming to an end and the hens are starting to lay again. Chickens normally take a break from laying when the days are the shortest. It gives them a chance to rest and rejuvenate their bodies. Fourteen hours of daylight are needed for them to lay regularly. Some farmers light their coops with extra hours of light forcing them to lay year round. We let ours have a break in the dead of winter and it looks like they’ve decided time to get back to work. I will be in Regina with eggs on February 10 so message me if you’d like some.
